If you haven't heard that Apple will be releasing the 3G iPhone in June, you must be living under a rock. Several major sources, including AT&T, have hinted and announced that the 3G iPhone is on its way. The next big Apple conference is June 9th, 2008 otherwise known as the WWDC conference. Most reliable Apple sources have confirmed that the 3G will be announced on June 9th, when Steve Jobs takes the floor at the WWDC.
According to Engadget, the 3G iPhone will also be cheaper than the original iPhone's price when it first launched. The new iPhone will also have proper GPS capability installed in the phone. The new generation phone is also supposed to support advanced IM and MMS features. Several sources have also confirmed that testing has already been complete and therefor the release of the next generation iPhone is imminent.
Now, my blogging friends, what do you think? If Apple releases their next generation iPhone in June or July, are you interested in buying it? If you don't have an iPhone currently, does this next generation release make you want one? And if the price is supposedly cheaper than the 1st generation iPhone, does this make a difference in buying one?
For those of us who are in love with the iPhone already, we have more reasons for joy when the WWDC comes around. New applications will be released, through iTunes, that will finally make our 1st generation iPhones even better than previously imagined.
I'd love to hear your thoughts, Culture Feast readers!. Will you be purchasing a next generation iPhone whenever it gets released? Please take a few seconds to voice your opinion in the comments.

[...] due to AT&T and Apple servers going down through out the country. I’ve written about the 3G iPhone before and I’ve also compared the 3G to Blackberry’s Bold, but what about those of us [...]

I’ll certainly be purchasing one as soon as they become available. I bought the original iPhone at launch and haven’t regretted it for a moment. Despite a variety of well-known “missing features” the iPhone is the single best device I’ve had in ten years of cellular, PDA, and smartphone use.
Topping my personal wishlist for features (apart from the obvious 3G) are:
- Louder speaker
- Copy & Paste
- Wireless sync (and printing, and so on)
- True GPS
An improved camera (with video) would be nice as well.

As far as the decision to purchase goes, that’s an easy one in my case, as I’ve long planned to pass along my original iPhone to a family member (whose 6 year old Samsung flip in woefully in need of replacement). Price of the new iPhone doesn’t matter, though the lower the better, certainly.
Still, if one was to ask me if I’ve gotten $600 of value out of my original iPhone over the last year, the answer would be an unequivocal yes.

I was pretty unimpressed with the 1g iPhone’s feature set, so I decided to wait for the 2g. Assuming that the features are as good as the rumors are saying, I’ll be ordering mine right away.
Of course, if it doesn’t support Flash, I’ll be pretty damn disappointed. It’ll make me seriously hesitate before jumping in line. :\

I currently have a Blackberry but will be switching to an iPhone when the 3G version is available. Very excited! I will miss certain aspects of the Blackberry(many in fact) but there are just so many things I’m looking forward to gaining with the iPhone that it makes the pain of losing certain functionality worthwhile.

There’s just so much that the current, and next, generation iPhone won’t be able to do that my BlackBerry 8800 can that I couldn’t possibly be bothered with switching devices. Not only that, but with the expected release of the recently announced BlackBerry Bold (touted as BlackBerry’s iPhone killer) in the next 90 days, I’ll be holding out and staying in the family. Don’t get me wrong, iPhone has a stellar interface, but it’s still a play phone and I need something that can be business at least part of the time.

Thanks for the comments everyone. I’m similiar to SF Film’s comment… the iPhone has ABSOLUTELY, POSITIVELY been worth the $399.99 I spent on it… and I’d do it all over again. It literally changed my life. Why? Because it was the first time I was able to download a podcast and watch it on my way to work (better yet, listen to it on my way to work since I was driving). Podcasts changed my life because they got me into blogging and social networking. Social networking has changed my life because it’s open so many cool new doors and opportunities (such as writing for Culture Feast).
But I can say - all of this started because… I bought me an iPhone.
Just my 2 cents.

All I can say is that I’ll believe it when I see it. There have been many rumours that Canada was supposed to be getting the iPhone a *long* time ago, but we still have nothing. Rogers seems to be very interested in carrying the device, so what’s taking so long?

I’m not sure… I have a rzr v1 and you know what, it works great… as a mobile phone. But that’s all it does. Could I use the added features of an iPhone? Maybe, but is it worth the $300+ to buy and the additional fees for services??? that’s the catch. Think about it, $60/mo is $1200 over 2 years!!! That’s a ton of coin.
Then again, lets be honest, noone else has come out with a real competitor, so I’ll probably jump on the bandwagon and buy a 3g when they get released…
