I wasn’t harping on Kristine… and my apologies if it came across that way.

My OPINION was “it’s not professional to say” one had skill and the other didn’t when clearly they BOTH did or they wouldn’t have been in the finale.

Sorry if I upset ya’ll – just expressing my opinion, but by no means was I implying that Kristine’s article wasn’t worthy to be posted. In fact, it’s a great one – I love American Idol.

I totally agree. Although I didn’t watch AI through the whole season, the few times I did tune in I was really impressed with David Cook. His singing seemed to come from a richness of soul that wasn’t present with the other contestants.

Each of these posts expresses the opinions of the writer, and they will be biased and more than likely unprofessional. Let’s not confuse ourselves with journalists who are forced to uphold the deceptive claim to unbiased reporting.

CultureFeast is a blog about people, written by people. People have opinions. Michael writes about politics, and his posts aren’t unbiased (sorry, Michael). Ashleigh reviews movies and ALWAYS states her opinions. Jessica and I review music albums, and we always share our unprofessional biases. When Bobby writes about immigration or self-publishing, his work is always based on personal bias and experience. That’s what gives it a richness.Bias is expected. No, it’s encouraged.

If she thinks David Cook was more skilled, that’s her opinion. Feel free to disagree and state your own opinions of the singers. But let’s leave it there.

I actually expected David Archuleta to win especially after Simon’s comments. It could have gone either way. I agree with Daniel that sometimes those passed over for the Idol title do very well as we’ve seen with Chris Daughtry and Clay Aiken. However, Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood have been very successful as Idol winners. Jeff, sorry to have offended you. I believe that David Archuleta as well as several other Idol contestants this season will be very successful. My reference to “skill” was only pertaining to Cook’s versatility and risk-taking and was my personal opinion. I wish David A. the best in his musical career.

I think it’s not only biased but a bit unprofessional to say you’re glad “skill won out.”

The same argument can be applied that Cook is nothing more than a cookie cutter Daughtry and that although he may have a nice voice, he’s as authentic as Splenda.

You have every right to disagree, but David Archuleta was and is very talented and he deserved the Idol win just as much as Cook did.

Overall, they’re excellent.

I am so behind! I haven’t watched an AI in weeks. I’m both glad AND sad that David Cook won. I think he would have fared much better with the public as the deserving winner passed over than the glam special of the year.
