My Odd Blog

Posted on 29 December 2005 by DanielthePoet

I’ve heard this comment all too often lately: “You’re using a blog as your business website? How odd.” It may be odd, but it’s a heck of a lot cheaper to build. That is always a plus. Besides, I’m a writer! I write… let that one sink in. Careful, now. It could be painful.

Blogs are like Podcasts - powerfully effective yet largely underestimated. That will change. Many businesses are already using blogs for crisis management and product advertisement.

I agree with the complaint that blogs are cluttering up the Internet and making relevant search more difficult. That is true, at least some of the time. Every one has their own opinions and everyone wants to be famous, so they write whatever they want on a blog.

What can I say? Everything invented is also abused. It’s inescapable. Rather than throw out the baby with the bathwater, as they say, you can harness the usability and enjoyment of blogging for your business.

Some of you will remain skeptics for quite some time, I’m sure. I hope to one of many examples to prove the usefulness of this platform. It’s the perfect medium for a copywriter, actually. A little unconventional, perhaps. Then again, that suits me just fine.
