Hi. I am Nicholas "Nix" Johnson. YES, the Nicholas "Nix" Johnson. I was born, raised, and reside in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. I have a beautiful daughter from a previous marriage and she is the spark that fuels my creative fire. I graduated from the University of North Texas in 2007 with my bachelor's degree in Entrepreneurship. I work full-time (or as I call it fool-time) in Dallas, host a weekly trivia show in Lewisville (www.redcatbluedog.com), and I am currently working on a new business. I have a rat terrier/jack russell terrier mix named Hooligan. She is a punk, but I love her.
I have written for various websites and publications over the last 5 years. I enjoy being a contributor on Culture Feast because I like working with a talented ensemble with a wide variety of interests and expertise. I regularly write about comic books as a form of therapy. It took me a lot of dates to realize that most women don't care about how cool comics are and the arguments of why comic books are just as viable as any other literary forms. When I'm not working or writing, I like to watch movies, play guitar, ride bikes, and take quizzes on Facebook. I am admittedly addicted to text messaging and emailing, but I refuse to go to any meetings.
My life goals revolve around working for myself and exploring all of the crazy ideas that are floating around in my head. I have a couple of screenplays, a novel, and at least a dozen business plans in the works. The creative juices are always flowing and I'm always up for collaboration or just playing the devil's advocate.
Here's some of my favorite things:
Color: Green
Food: Sushi
Movie: Ferris Bueller's Day Off
Quote: "Problems cannot be solved at the same level of awareness that created them." –Albert Einstein
Monkey: Bonzo
TV Show: Flight of the Conchords
Guilty Pleasure: Jumbo Marshmallows
Drink: Dr. Pepper (can)
Sport: Soccer (football)
Body part (me): My eyes
Candy: Apple Laffy Taffy
Mistake: She knows who she is
My only advice for other writers is to never let yourself get hung up on what other people *might* think and learn to see criticism as a good thing. Enjoy the blogs and feel free to email me any time. nixjohnson@hotmail.com
