New Batman Villains Hit the Wire: Open Thread

The rumors are circulating about the next Batman movie. Who will be the villain? Which actor/actress will play the role? These are just speculations and rumors at this point. No new Batman villains have been officially announced. Here is the original story from Newsday.com.

Both of these rumored actors are excellent picks. I actually suggested Johnny Depp in my previous Batman post, but did not think he would actually go for it. If you think back on the bizarre roles he chooses, he is a compelling pick… I don’t think it’s the roles themselves, but rather how he plays them and puts his own unique spin to them…Jack Sparrow, Edward Scissor Hands, Willie Wonka – the list goes on. He would make an excellent Riddler.

Movie Review: The Dark Knight

Here it is, people. The one for which you’ve all been waiting. Quite honestly, I was at a loss for how to start this one. I loved the movie. It was fabulous. I can’t wait to see the next installment, but even I’m getting tired of hearing myself sing the praises of practically every movie I review. I feel like I purposely need to start watching movies that I hate so that I can build some credibility, you know? Or at least to stop exhausting my thesaurus in search for new synonyms for words like spectacular and tremendous and mesmerizing and enchanting, etc.

I’d like to say that The Dark Knight picks up where Batman Begins left off, mainly because it just sounds cool, but I don’t really remember a lot of Batman Begins. I enjoyed it, but I only saw it once, and it wasn’t one that I felt like I needed to add to my collection. So for artistic sake, we’ll just say that it picks up where it left off, k? K.

Thanks for the Spam, Grandma!

Grandma spams It's not often that I have the time to give my grandmother a shout-out, but  here it is. I want to give big props to my g-ma  for her helping me to reach my quest of 'World's Strongest Man in the Email-Deleting Finger Catagory'. Thanks to her, I have added millimeters of girth and amazing definition to my email-deleting finger.

On any given Monday, I could spend minutes a day deleting all of the unread emails that she has forwarded me. I don't mean any disrespect to my grandmother, but I pretty much got the 'Obama = terrorist' message in your first email. You know I am a well informed, educated man. I graduated from an accredited university (UNT '07); you were there.  I'm not amongst the undereducated masses that not only thought finishing high school was unnecessary, but also make up the majority of stereotypical Texans.  I just don't fall into that group of people that is swayed by propaganda whether it is political, racist, or fear based.

Comic Book Movie Cameos I Want to See

Superman and BatmanSeeing how I am a self-professed comic geek, I am generally my friends’ go-to source for any and everything comic book related. Currently, the most often asked question that I am getting is: “Why did they make another Incredible Hulk movie? Didn’t they just make one a couple of years ago?”

To answer that question, Marvel (comics) is taking a new direction with their movies. They will not be auctioning off licensing to the highest bidder as was done with Spider-Man, The Fantastic Four, and Hulk. In doing so, we were subjected Spider-Man with organic webbing, The FF looking like a 2 hour commercial for toys, and the Hulk trying to be cerebral and romantic – Ang Lee style. Also with different studios owning the movies, the fans were never going to see crossover cameos like Tony Stark made in the Incredible Hulk.
