A Truly Historic Election in 2008

Well it finally has happened, history has indeed happened.  There was strong debate throughout the process, people feeling very passionate about the issues.  There were a lot of ups and downs and while it was possible to see the outcome well before election night, I do not think anyone really knew what it would feel like until the numbers became final.  This was indeed a historic election, one that will affect lives forever and one that we will always be talking about.

On Tuesday Nov 4th the voters had a choice and because of the freedom that we have in this country they made that choice and what a choice it was.  The city of Roanoke had two bills on the ballot, one to allow alcohol to be sold in stores which barely lost, 789 against, 788 for. The other bill would allow alcoholic drinks to be sold in a restaurants and this easily passed 1094 to 497.  Every vote was critical and…..

Reasons Why I Support John McCain

John McCainI want to start this off by saying why I am for John McCain, while I would love all of you to vote for Mr. McCain the purpose of this blog is not to convert you.  While I disagree with Mrs. Clinton and Mr. Obama I am not going to say that they would be bad for America or that they somehow have a hidden secret evil agenda as some are prone to do.  The fact is we really have no idea what is going to happen and what type of leader we are going to need.  I remember in 1992 thinking that the US economy was going to crash and burn because of Clinton’s Family Medial Leave Act and because of the higher taxes. Hillary: to vote or not to vote

Hillary ClintonI seem to be having the same conversation with people about Hillary and her candidacy for president. It usually goes something like this:

 “So what you’re saying is that all women are the same,” I retorted.

“No that’s not what I’m saying at all,” she or he says as they divert their eyes from mine.  They begin feverishly looking around the restaurant or office or apartment, eyes darting from corner to corner, attempting to find the nearest exit or at least a bathroom. Continue Reading
