Digg is in the process of banning its most influential users, the top 100 Diggers. This 1% of all Digg users account for 30%+ of the site's traffic and focus. These are the power users who can send a million visits to a site simply by submitting a digg. And now Digg wants them gone. Banned or soon to be banned power users include zaibatsu, msaleem, mklopez, skored, makimaki, and more.

The rationale is this: Digg is making a play to increase its value to $300 million, and the best method they could come up with was to level the playing field so that more users could have more influence. So the word has gone out that at least the top 10 Diggers will be banned soon, with more to follow.
