Well let me go on record as saying I was completely wrong in who I thought John McCain was going to pick. I was hopeful for Mike Huckabee but thought it would be Mitt Romney, I know people were talking about the governor of Minnesota or of Florida but I did not think that was the way he was going to go.
As I looked at the choices I really did not see how any of them, even my beloved Huckabee would really help McCain. Here is what I felt John needed to do to be elected President:

I really don’t consider myself a politically savvy character. Yes, I am an American. Yes, I vote. What party do I support? I prefer to keep people guessing. Here is hint: my favorite Presidents have been Ronald Regan and John F Kennedy.
After hearing the news, I couldn’t wait to get home and google this lady who might make history and find out as much as I could about her. My first impression was Wow! She is pretty damn attractive - especially considering she is 44, a mother of 5, and a politician.
She is the governor of Alaska. She is pro-life, pro gun, pro drilling, and a tree hugger (life time member of NRA). She seems to stand against corruption. That being said, she does seem to be far right and ultra conservative.

Culture Feast has several opinion articles written about this year’s highly-anticipated election year. We’ve seen articles that bash McCain and we’ve seen articles that bash Obama. To me, it seems there are definitely more anti-Obama articles on the internet, but then again I’ll freely admit I have bias. Supporting my opinion is the fact that Barack Obama’s camp had to literally create a website to dispel all the rumors and misinformation that has been plaguing him since he stepped into the political race.
With that said, I feel compelled to write on behalf of the Senator who is officially nominated for the Democratic party for the President of the United States. I was speaking with a few family members, all die-hard conservatives, about Barack Obama. It became so clear to me that this election seems different than any other election I’ve witnessed in my 31 years of age. Every election has had heated debates and has been filled with attacks, mostly all of them biased and inaccurate. But I think I can fairly debate that Obama seems to have more inaccurate and “urban legend-like” emails about him, his family and his performance than any other candidate that has run for President.

I could not be more relieved today when I heard that Joe Biden will be Barack Obama’s choice for Vice President. My belief has been that there is a 100% chance that the next President will be either a Democrat or a Republican and it is 50/50 as to which side will win, I want to see the best candidates from both parties because one of them will be President.
Joe Biden is one of the members of the senate that I really respect, I always used to judge politicians on how well they did on Meet The Press with Tim Russert and Joe Biden always did well. While I may not always have agreed with him I could understand where he came from because he was that good at explaining himself. Another thing I like about him is he could admit when he was wrong and he answered the questions honestly.

If you have not watch the Jib Jab cartoon it is a must see. Go to www.jibjab.com and click on “Time For Some Campaignin”. Then come back and finish reading this blog.
Satire is always difficult for people to understand, we see this all the time even outside of politics. Bruce Springsteen’s “Born in the USA” is not a patriotic song, and yet it gets played every Fourth of July when the fireworks go off. Billy Idol’s “White Wedding” is not a celebration of marriage, yet it gets played all the time at weddings.

Last night I was watching the very first “Saturday Night Live”, it was the 1970’s so of course Ford was being made fun of. One of the slogans that they said that he would have is, “Hey, if I am so dumb, why am I the President?”
Looking back I think we can say that Jerry Ford really was not that bad as a President and given the situation at the time made some good decisions. We tend to say a President was great or terrible without looking at all factors. Two Presidents in particular that get generalized are Franklin Roosevelt and Richard Nixon.

I can not help but have the AC/DC song, “Money Talk” in my head watching the political conversation this week. For those of you not about to rock, let me salute you and quote for you the verse in particular. “Come on, come on, love me for the money, come on, come on, listen to the money talk.”
The question of course is what role should finance have on a political campaign? Continue Reading

Are you ready to see history in the making? Get your popcorn ready (nod to T.O.). The world stage is about to take yet another step toward the End. Reading this post could be hazardous to your health, as this could get really ugly if certain people comment, so be prepared.
First, know this: I will vote for Barack Obama. But that's only because I believe John McCain to be irrelevant to the most pressing issues facing our country and the world.

A woman in politics can’t have things both ways. She can’t be tough, talk trash, eat opponents for breakfast and then try to go into “lady-mode” when her enemies strike back.
What brought this idea to mind is, recently, when he was interviewed by Norah O’Donnell on MSNBC, Obama campaign co-chair Dick Durbin (D-Illinois) made the hyperbolic statement, “The hottest ring in hell is reserved for those in politics who attack their opponent’s families.” He was addressing the speculation some political columnists have put forth that, with Hillary out of the way, the Republicans are now gunning for Michelle Obama.

“Thank-you, thank-you, thank-you! Yes, it is true, Bob is back and we are going to take this revolution all the way to November and beyond! That is right, I am running for President of the United States and this time I will not be intimidated.”
“Now, many of you are wanting to know, what made me decide to come back to the fight after I left. Well let me tell you, after I resigned I was very sad and I had to get away. I got in my car and I began to drive and I had a conversation with America. I talked to her and she talked to me, and what she told me made me realize that I had to come back.”

Friday June 13, 2008 will be remembered as one of the saddest days of my life. Learning that Tim Russert had died at the NBC news office two days before Father’s Day and very shortly after his son’s graduation causes me more sadness then I would have ever dreamed possible for a man that I did not know personally.
While I have always felt bad for the families of public people when they died I have never felt such a personal loss. When Princess Diana died I was sad for her sons, my heart broke seeing Nancy Reagan kiss the coffin when President Ronald Reagan was buried, and I was moved to tears when former Arizona Cardinals safety Pat Tillman was killed in Afghanistan because of friendly fire. However, none of them affected me personally like the death of Tim Russert.
