The New York Times reported a story about Mamadou Doucoure, a New York grocery store worker beloved by many patrons, who faces several unjust actions by his employer, Key Food.

Doucoure filed a suit against his employer to claim the overtime wages he was never paid for years. Since the suit was filed, Doucoure has been moved from daytime assistant manager to night time stocker. The reason for the move? The store manager accused Doucoure of sexually harassing his wife.

“Our position is that moving him to the night shift is retaliation for the overtime lawsuit, and that the sexual harassment claim is just a pretext for moving him,” said Diane McFadin, his lawyer.

While the case is pending, we will reserve judgment. But should Key Foods be found guilty of withholding overtime pay and setting an example for all employees by their treatment of Mamadou, the company’s reputation will be seriously damaged.

These are the types of issues that honest business dealings and proper treatment of employees can avoid. Stay tuned. I’ll share more if and when I hear an update.

Yes, Reputation Watchdog is coming soon, though how soon has yet to be determined. It will benefit the growing online reputation management industry, which is a combination of SEO and PR for the Web. I'm sure many of you are wondering what the heck "online reputation management" is. Put simply, reputation management is PR and guarding your image/reputation online, where anyone can say anything about you in thousands of different venues. Each of these negative statements about you can cost you that new job, a quality new hire, a client, or potentially thousands of customers and millions of revenue.

There are plenty of places you can read more about the ORM industry, such as here and here and here.

Credit goes to the ever awesomer Ben Jordan for creating and enhancing my logo vision.
