The Myth of the Middle Man

Posted on 11 July 2008 by Michael Callaway

The Middle ManThere will come a time in your life where you or someone you know will be sucked into a multi-level marking scheme.  It may be selling individual products, being a travel agent or selling vitamins and other “health” related supplements.  The companies change names but the story is all the same, untold wealth waiting to be discovered.

Sadly, for the period of time that your friend is on the existential high that comes with the thoughts of earning an extra $500,000, all with no extra work, you will need to mourn their loss as if they had passed from this world on to the next.

I want to warn you about the signs that the opportunity that you are being presented with is simply not true, the first one is that the guy or gal is just so excited about sharing what they know with you.  If I found a way to make millions all by doing no work at all do you know how many people I would tell?  None!  If everyone knew the secret to my easy money machine the money would be gone.  The second key to look for is it simply sounds to go to be true.  Wow, I can earn an extra $300,000 just by doing what I am doing now?  Well, since I do have a three hundred thousand and extra one sure would be nice.

However, the final tell will be when they bring up the evil and sinister middle man.  This is your final clue to leave and take all your information with you.  The middle man, you will be told, is the source of all evil that there is in the world.  He has got to get his grubby little hands on the product and ruins it for everyone.  The price of food has gone up, it is the middle man’s fault.  Price of clothing seems too high, the middle man at work.  Oil and gas too expensive, you know who to blame, that wicked man in the middle.

The solution will be presented something like this; the producer needs to make his fifteen percent, so he sells it to the middle man who sells it to another and another and another, each taking their piece of the pie.  By the time it gets to you so many hands have been in the pot that the consumer has nothing left.  But what if you could make all that money?  What if we took the middle man’s loot and used it for ourselves?  Praised be to God in the highest, you now have this chance.  Thanks to our secret you can be rich, you will have that extra $300 G and now you can treat your family right.

They have seen it happen too (not to them yet), the guy who got the guy who got them into it is making a ton, I mean a TON of money.  Probably at this point they will reveal how they have been told that they are on track to do even better, really, even better then the guy making a ton.

Know that it is all a lie, there is no easy money, the guy who got the guy who is coming after you is probably not making a ton.  The one who suffers the most is the middle man, your friend, your humble servant, the one who actually makes things cheaper, his reputation gets drug though the mud all in an effort to separate you from your money.

The cost of a good sold is much more then the parts it takes to make it.  The next cost is transportation, getting it from the factory to the local market.  Next, getting it from the local market to the individual store and finally, marketing to people to let them know that the product even exists.  Because you can have the greatest product in the world (such as Michael Callaway’s book, “Rise of Lucifer” available now at www.lulu.com/riseoflucifer, supplies are limited act while you still can) but if no one knows about it then it does not exists.

All these things cost money and if the producer is doing it themselves or letting someone else do it for them; they are still going to need to charge their fifteen percent or what ever it is that they charge in-order to make it worth while.  The middle man becomes your friend because if they are shipping more then one item from Boston to LA there cost per item will be a lot less then yours if you got in a car and drove it yourself.  The middle man makes it possible, God bless the middle man.
